InMusic In The Black
An economy still in recession and the loss of two sponsors had promoter Zoran Maric a little worried going in to this year’s InMusic Festival, but the fans voted with their feet and it smashed the Croatian festival’s attendance record.
With the departure of Tuborg and Sony Ericsson, it was even more important to have a good box office. Doing 25,000 per day – 20 percent up on last year – was enough to convince Maric that the 6-year-old gathering has established itself.
InMusic’s previous best attendance was in 2009, when 21,000 per day enjoyed the shores of Zagreb’s Lake Jarun.
Main sponsor T-Mobile has stayed on board and the record-breaking crowd means the event has done better than break-even.
The acts helping to keep InMusic in the black June 21-22 included Arcade Fire, Grinderman, Jamiroquai, TV On The Radio, The Streets, Cypress Hill, and Mastodon.
