Michaels Lawsuit Moved To NY

A Los Angeles federal judge ruled July 5 that Bret Michaels’ lawsuit against CBS and the 2009 Tony Awards regarding injuries he sustained during the broadcast should be heard in New York where the incident happened and most of the witnesses live.

Michaels sustained a broken nose and split lip when he walked into a moving set piece as he and Poison exited the Radio City Music Hall stage. The singer filed a lawsuit March 25 in Los Angeles, where he lives, against CBS and Tony organizers, claiming the accident contributed to a brain hemorrhage that nearly killed him in 2010.

The singer is seeking unspecified damages on claims the show organizers didn’t warn him that the set would be changing after the band’s performance. Michaels is also unhappy that Tony officials didn’t stop a clip of his accident from becaming a hit on YouTube.
