Apparently Grill was seriously injured in a recent fall. The Pasadena Star News reports Grill’s wife Nancy posted a message on TopShelf Times last week saying he suffered a head injury and that a CT scan showed “a rupture in the layers of the brain.”

Nancy Grill also stated that her husband had suffered two strokes since the accident and was in a coma.

Grill was the lead singer, bassist and songwriter for The Grass Roots, responsible for such hits as “Let’s Live For Today,” and “Midnight Confessions.” Grill had a solo hit in 1979 with “Rock Sugar.”

The Grass Roots are on this summer’s tour that also includes The Turtles Feat. Flo & Eddie, The Association, The Buckinghams and Mark Lindsay.
