Incident In Room 137

The night before Nicki Minaj performed at Dallas’ American Airlines Center as opening act for Britney Spears, she was in an altercation involving her assistant and a suitcase.

Minaj, who was staying at the Hotel Palomar in Dallas, got into an argument with her assistant, Safaree Samuels, at the poolside bar July 11, according to witnesses.

Samuels went upstairs to the room they shared and Minaj followed, according to the police report. Minaj was apparently concerned the assistant was going to take her personal belongings, sources told TMZ.

Minaj was looking inside her suitcase, which contained items owned by Samuels, when the latter “grabbed the suitcase and as he was picking it up, he shoved the suitcase across [Minaj’s] chin and lower lip,” according to what Minaj told police. Samuels exited the hotel while Minaj asked a staffer to contact police and the fire department. She was treated at the scene for an injury to her inner lip.

Minaj refused to file charges but proceeded to send out a tweet: “u believe a man either slapped or punched me in the face & didn’t leave on a stretcher w/his balls hangin off?”

Samuels is referred to in one blog as “Dude always with Minaj,” according to the Dallas Observer. Minaj told the police she had never been intimate with him.

The Observer noted one small discrepancy: Minaj’s police report lists her age as 28, not 26 as she has claimed.
