Hemmes Delays Good Vibrations
Too many festivals in Australia? Justin Hemmes, whose Jam Entertainment company runs the national electro festival Good Vibrations, thinks so.
Hemmes says that because of the glut of festivals downunder, acts are pushing up their fees and consumer demand is less predictable.
As a result, next year’s Good Vibrations is pushed back from February to December. This year, the festival was offering two-for-one ticket deals in some cities to jumpstart ticket sales.
Another festival, New South Wales’ Playground Weekender, is to get new financial backers, promoter Andy Rigby revealed.
Art-rockers Architecture In Helsinki sued the festival in the Federal Court, claiming they are still owed $24,200 from this year. Rigby said they would be paid within two weeks.
