The Latest Rolling Stones Rumor

The last time The Rolling Stones rumor mill coughed something up was February in the form of unidentified sources claiming the band might do something for the 2012 London Olympics. That bit of gossip surfaced along with word from one London tabloid that talk of a tour might have been squelched by Keith Richards’ “tiny todger” remark about Mick Jagger’s manhood that appeared in Richards’ autobiography.

Now the word is that the band will play London’s Hyde Park. At least, that’s what Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood told a Brit newspaper.

During an interview with London paper Daily Standard, Wood said he and his Stones cohorts were planning a series of events to celebrate the Big 50, including recreating the band’s 1969 look and sound for an event at Hyde Park.

“We’ll try to recapture the old camaraderie,” Wood told the paper “I know Keith is fully supportive, as are the rest of the boys in the Stones. We’ll see what we can do as a unit. Playing Hyde Park would be fabulous.”

But would his fellow Rolling Stones members have room on their respective calendars for such a venture? Jagger is currently involved in SuperHeavy, a band featuring the singer with Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Joss Stone and A.R. Rahman. SuperHeavy’;s first album is due out in September.
