Feel The T-Pain

T-Pain announced in early June that he was through with Auto-tune because he had seen the light. “I’m onto something that I think is bigger and better called The T-Pain Effect,” the singer said.

It was an intriguing statement – one that suggested a revolution in modern R&B recording. On July 20, audio technology company iZotope announced the new dynamic.

Turns out The T-Pain Effect is a $99 software product “designed to empower everyone to make music. Users will be able to make beats and record vocals featuring the distinctive sound of T-Pain himself.” In other words, Auto-tune for the PC.

The announcement comes on the heels of The Gregory Brothers’ iPhone app, Songify, where the user speaks into the phone and the app auto-tunes the sentence to songs like “Bed Intruder” and “Double Rainbow.” That app is free.
