Winehouse Post-Mortem Inconclusive

A post-mortem on Amy Winehouse has failed to establish the cause of her death, which leaves London police to wait up to a month for the results of further toxicology tests.

An inquest was opened and adjourned July 25, with a second hearing set for Oct. 26.

The body was released and the award-winning star’s family is now able to make arrangements for her funeral.

Winehouse was found dead July 23 in her flat in Camdem, north London, causing the UK media to speculate it was a result of her long-time dalliance with drink and drugs.

The Observer said the singer was “notorious as much for her off-stage excesses as her music,” while the Daily Express claimed she died because of “a drugs binge fuelled by a broken heart.”

Early news reports quoted a police spokesman saying her death was “unexplained.” After the inquest, the local coroner’s office confirmed that police investigating the scene hadn’t found anything suspicious.

Winehouse tried to make a live comeback a month ago, but the opening show of her European tour in Belgrade, Serbia, June 18 was a shambles and the rest of the dates were scrapped.

Meanwhile, tributes to the Grammy award-winning star continue to pour in, along with messages and flowers left outside her home.
