The Jayhawks Reveal U.S. Dates
Scheduled for a Sept. 20 release on Rounder Records, Mockingbird Time is being hailed as the first full-band studio release featuring Jayhawks founding members Gary Louris and Mark Olson since Tomorrow The Green Grass came out in 1995. The Louris-produced album was recorded during winter 2010 in Minneapolis’ Terrarium Recording Studios with all songs co-penned by Olson and Louris.
Touring the U.K. and Europe during the first half of August, The Jayhawks will play two nights in St. Cloud, Minn., at The Paramount Sept. 15-16, one night in Mankato, Minn., at Riverfront Park Sept. 17 and stop by CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman” Sept. 23.
October has the band getting down to the another-night, different-town aspect of touring, performing in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the River Rocks Festival Oct. 8; Athens, Ohio, at the Templeton-Blackburn Memorial Auditorium for the Mountain Stage radio program Oct. 9; Nelsonville, Ohio, at Stuart’s Opera House Oct. 11; and Bloomington, Ind., at The Bluebird Oct. 12. Other stops include Pittsburgh (Oct. 16); New York City (Oct. 21); Charlottesville, Va. (Oct. 23); Atlanta (Oct. 28); St. Louis (Nov. 10); Austin (Nov. 18) and Houston (Nov. 19).
Jessica Lea Mayfield supports Oct. 11-20 and Tift Merritt supports Oct. 22-25 & 27-29. Special guest Rosanne Cash appears on the Oct. 21 NYC show.
The Oct. 9 Mountain Stage show in Athens, Ohio, went on sale today. Most other shows go up Aug. 5 with the exception of the Oct. 16 Pittsburgh date which goes up Aug. 6 and gigs in Charlottesville, Va., and Austin which go up Aug. 12. Visit JayhawksOfficial.com for more information.
