It won’t be a live broadcast. RHCP’s fan-only gig is scheduled for Aug. 22 at West Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre and will air on the music cable channel operated by The Madison Square Garden Company Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. EDT. The private show will take place two days before the band performs at the Silverlake Conservatory Of Music Benefit at L.A.’s Club Nokia Aug. 24.

While fans throughout North America patiently await word of when the band will bless the continent with a proper tour, the Chili Peppers play Japan’s Summer Sonic this month and launch a global outing in South America in September followed by a run through Europe beginning in October.

Perhaps you were one of the lucky ones who caught the band’s secret show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood a few nights ago. According to Examiner.com, the only word of the surprise Sunday night gig came from one of Flea’s tweets shortly before the band took the stage.
