Bono Says Hospital Trip Was Routine

The U2 frontman denies press reports claiming chest pains resulted in a trip to the hospital.

The U2 camp released a statement today saying that although Bono did attend Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco recently, the visit was for a routine check-up, according to Reuters.

“Despite press stories to the contrary, Bono has not suffered a recent health scare,” the statement read, calling reports claiming he had been rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest pain, “untrue.” According to the statement, Bono is in “good health” and is spending time with his family in Southern France.

Reports that the singer was ill apparently originated on Sunday with Irish newspaper The Independent, which called Bono’s hospital journey “a health scare.” The newspaper quoted an unnamed source saying “he is OK now but he got a fright.”
