Tom Jones Recovering In Monaco

Tom Jones was recovering in a Monaco hospital Aug. 28 after being forced to cancel the previous night’s concert in the glamorous principality because of “severe dehydration.”

The 71-year-old singer apologized to fans with a message on his website and was quick to deny any rumors of a more pressing condition.

“There are NO heart problems, as has been reported in the press,” the message read.

The show was to be the finale of Jones’ Praise & Blame tour, “where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat,” the message continued. “Sir Tom was ordered by doctors not to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday evening due to severe dehydration.”

A spokesman for the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco confirmed that Jones was admitted Aug. 27 and doing well the following day.

It was not known when the singer would be released. His website says he hopes to play again in Monte Carlo soon and thanked fans for their understanding and support.

He has some Eastern European dates booked for November.
