Sony Nashville Layoffs

Corporate downsizing at Sony Music Nashville reportedly led to layoffs of about a dozen employees Aug. 25.

The layoffs primarily affected the Columbia label, according to the Tennessean.

VP Jimmy Rivers, director of national promotion Mike Wilson and Diane Monk, Southwestern regional director based in Dallas, are said to be among the departures.

A Sony rep declined to comment as per corporate policy, the paper said.

Meanwhile, MusicRow stated it had confirmed departures of Columbia’s VP national promotion Jimmy Rector, promotion coordinator Ben Sterling, sr. director of strategic marketing Debbie Linn, A&R coordinator Tim Riffle, director of field sales, marketing & catalog development Mike Rivers.

Also named by MusicRow was Arista’s Diane Monk, Columbia’s Jennifer Thorpe, RCA’s Cliff Blake and Steve Pleshe, BNA’s David “Bubba” Berry and Monument Publishing’s Stephanie Cox and Ben Strain.
