More ‘Wall’ For Argentina

How popular is “The Wall” tour in Argentina? Popular enough for eight, count ‘em, eight nights at Buenos Aires’ 76,000-plus seater Estadio River Plate.

Most people probably thought five concerts at the stadium would be enough to satisfy the South American country’s Roger Waters fans.

But with all shows selling out within 48 hours, promotion company Pop Art quickly added a sixth concert to satisfy concertgoers, many of which had stood in line all night hoping to buy tickets for the first five gigs. The sixth show sold out in less than 24 hours.

Worldwide tour coordinator Andrew Zweck of Sensible Events told Pollstar that public demand was so high that Pop Art announced a seventh show.

But even that wasn’t enough to fulfill demand and the promotion company ended up announcing show No. 8 even before the seventh concert went on sale. With the sixth show selling out, the Roger Waters tour beat the stadium’s previous record for the number of fastest selling shows, an honor previously held by The Rolling Stones.

The eight shows are scheduled for March 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17 & 18 with tickets for March 17 and 18 going up at midnight local time Sept. 6. For more information on “The Wall” tour, please visit RogerWaters.com.
