Prince’s Pricey Perfume

Prince should pay almost $4 million to a perfume company for hobbling its efforts to market its “3121” fragrance after the company licensed the album title and the Purple One agreed to help promote it, according to a New York court referee.

The award will have to be upheld by another judge, but an attorney for Prince told the New York Law Journal he would fight to keep the award from being confirmed.

Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics said it licensed Prince’s name and likeness as well as the album title to market the fragrance in 2006. The company says Prince broke promises to help promote the scent after its July 2007 launch.
