Family Force 5 Goes For The Gold
The Atlanta-based rock band is touring in support of its upcoming third full-length studio album, III, which is due out Oct. 18 on Tooth & Nail Records / III Entertainment. Since releasing 2008’s sophomore album, Dance or Die, FF5 has put out a remix album, a Christmas album and a few EPs.
An announcement about III describes the release as a return to the band’s rock roots, “resurrecting the heavy guitars and bombastic beats” of FF5’s debut, 2006’s Business Up Front/Party in the Back.
The “It’s All Gold” tour Oct. 26 at The Social in Orlando, Fla., with dates booked through a Nov. 18 gig in Seattle at El Corazon.
Stops along the way include Charlotte, N.C., at Amos’ SouthEnd Oct. 28; Vienna, Va., at Jammin’ Java Nov. 1; St. Louis at Fubar Nov. 3; Denver at Bluebird Theater Nov. 8; San Francisco at Slim’s Nov. 14; Portland, Ore., at Hawthorne Theatre Nov. 17; and Seattle at El Corazon Nov. 18.
Fans will have the opportunity to take the stage with FF5 by participating in “The Gold Karaoke Challenge.” Ticketholders who are interested in joining the competition should arrive early to the show wearing full Family Force 5 gear and regalia. After fans put their names in a gold disco ball, a random drawing will select five fans to perform a song onstage with the 808’ers, an up-and-coming production team that collaborated with the band on III. The best singer will then join FF5 on stage during the group’s performance of the tune “Love Addict.”
Tickets for the “It’s All Gold” tour are on sale now.
