Funds raised through the “Donate To Drink” campaign will help people living in Africa, Asia, Central America and South America. Water For People works in those areas toward its mission of ensuring that no one suffers or dies from a water- or sanitation-related disease.

The Crowdrise.com campaign, which began Sept. 1, hopes to raise $2 million by Oct. 31. Every dollar donated has twice the impact thanks to a group of Water For People donors who have put up a $1 million matching pledge.

So far “Donate To Drink” has raised $438,880 through the crowd-sourced, online fundraising platform. 

OK Go fans who make a donation of any size between now and Sept. 27 at 11:59 p.m. EST will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets and backstage passes. Fans who create “Donate To Drink” fundraising pages on Crowdrise.com will get additional chances to win for every new donation received on their fundraising pages now through Sept. 27.

The date and location of the OK Go concert will be determined based on the band’s upcoming tour schedule, the winner’s location and ticket availability.

Thanks to partnerships with Crowdrise, Eagle Creek, AOL, Marmot and CH2M Hill, every person who donates between $25 and $99 will receive a hand-made bracelet from Rwanda. People who donate $100 or more will receive a stainless-steel water bottle from Marmot.

People who create fundraising pages on Crowdrise.com and raise $1,000 in donations will have the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to join a Water For People volunteer expedition in Rwanda in 2012. Every additional $1,000 raised will be awarded with another entry in the contest.

“The scale of the global water crisis is massive, and perhaps something that those who have unlimited access to clean water do not fully understand,” Ned Breslin, Water For People’ CEO, said in a statement. “The reality is that more than 884 million people do not have access to safe drinking water. If we all take time to donate to drink, we have tremendous potential to solve this global crisis.”
