This time it’s a hemorrhage on Adele’s vocal chord that has sidelined the singer. Doctors have advised an extended rest period, meaning the tour scheduled to begin Friday in Atlantic City, N.J., at the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa / Event Center is now off the books.

Cancelled shows also include stops in Durham, N.C. (Oct. 8); Nashville (Oct. 10); Asheville, N.C. (Oct. 11); Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 13); Miami (Oct. 14); Atlanta (Oct. 16); and Texas locales The Woodlands (Oct. 18); Austin (Oct. 19); and Grand Prairie (Oct. 21). Refunds are available at points of purchase.

The cancellations mark the latest touring interruption for Adele. In May an ongoing case of laryngitis forced her to postpone the remaining dates of her spring North American tour. In September a severe cold and chest infection forced her to push back her planned tour of the United Kingdom.

In a posting on her website, Adele apologized to fans and promised she would “smash the ball out the park” as soon as she’s touring again. In the meantime it’s rest and vocal rehab for the foreseeable future. Adele’s next scheduled gig is a two-night stand in Wolverhampton, England, at Civic Hall Nov. 7-8.
