Frommhold To Run AEG Venues

Hamburg O2 World managing director Uwe Frommhold has been handed the responsibility of running AEG’s German venues.

In the newly created position of Vice President AEG Facilities Germany, he’ll continue running the northern venue, the neighbouring Volksbank Arena and also take on The O2 World in Berlin.

Mike Keller, managing director of the Berlin venue, will now report to Frommhold, who in turn will report to Rod O’Conner, AEG’s executive vice president for its European facilities.

O’Conner says Frommhold has a track record for success and that Hamburg and Berlin are important venues within AEG’s European operations.

The company is battling Live Nation to win the contract to run a new arena about to be built in Copenhagen, the nearest Scandinavian capital to Germany and the logical tour routing going north.

Frommhold, who’s been on the board of the European Arenas Association since May, has been managing director of The O2 World in Hamburg since 2002, when it opened as the Colorline Arena.

In 2009, two years after AEG bought it, the naming rights were sold to O2. It regularly hosts 130 events per year.
