Changes: Adele, Metallica & Katy Perry
Adele Facing Surgery
The latest chapter of Adele’s ongoing throat problems was revealed today when Columbia Records announced the star would undergo throat surgery to alleviate the problems that have plagued her for almost the entire year.
But with news of the impending surgery also comes word that remaining promotional appearances as well as concerts for the rest of the year have been canceled. This means Adele’s November U.K. tour featuring stops in Wolverhampton, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Cardiff, and Plymouth aren’t happening.
Adele’s throat problems began in late spring when laryngitis forced her to postpone several U.S. appearances. A hemorrhage on her vocal cord resulted in her canceling a fall U.S. run and a bad cold played havoc with her September U.K. schedule.
Refunds for the latest cancellations are available at points of purchase. Visit Adele.tv for more info.
Metallica’s 24-Hour Delay
F1 Rocks, the series of concerts accompanying Formula 1 racing events, has pushed Metallica’s India debut back 24 hours, citing “technical difficulties.”
Originally scheduled to take place tonight in Greater Noida, India, F1 Rocks has heralded the Metallica gig by bragging that the band had to airlift more than 36 tons of equipment to the site where 350 local crew members needed 12 days to set up the stage.
Latest word is that Metallica will now play F1 Rocks Saturday night. For more information, click here for the F1 Rocks site.
No Katy Perry For Grand Rapids
Katy Perry fans in Grand Rapids, Mich., have seen their California Dreams squashed once again.
Perry’s “California Dreams” world tour was originally scheduled to play Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena Sept. 11 but illness postponed the show until Dec. 1. This week word emerged that the rescheduled date had been canceled, and neither city nor singer would get a second chance. At least not during the current tour.
This time Live Nation cited “unforeseen production and scheduling conflicts” for the cancellation, according to The Grand Rapids Press. Of course, refunds are available at points of purchase and folks who bought their tickets online will get automatic refunds. However, there’s no cure for all those broken hearts in western Michigan. Such is life.
