No Tricks Or Treats: Canceled & Postponed Shows

Rihanna, Meat Loaf, Gym Class Heroes, and Black Veil Brides have all recently called off shows.

Rihanna’s Oct. 31 gig in Malmo, Sweden, at the Malmö Arena has been postponed because she has the flu. Earlier today the singer tweeted “Sorry Malmo!!!” along with a photo of her arm hooked up to an IV.

An announcement on Rihanna’s website says Live Nation is in the process of rescheduling the show. Details will be revealed in the next few days. All tickets will be honored at the rescheduled date. Fans can also get refunds at the original point of purchase.

Her next shows are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Stockholm, Sweden, at Ericsson Globe.

Illness also forced Meat Loaf to postpone one of his shows. The rocker’s Oct. 28 gig in Tauranga, New Zealand, at Bay Park Tauranga was rescheduled for Tuesday.

“I sincerely apologize for having to postpone tonight’s show in Tauranga,” Meat Loaf wrote in a post on his Facebook wall Friday. “It is the one thing I never, EVER want to do. I’ve gone onstage before when I shouldn’t have and I regretted it because that audience means more to me than anything.”

In spite of his illness Meat Loaf was still able to make it to Saturday’s show in Auckland, New Zealand, at Vector Arena.

Friday’s tickets are valid for the rescheduled date. Refunds are also available at your point of purchase.

Black Veil Brides have canceled the last two dates on the band’s European tour in addition to postponing its U.S. tour due to singer’s Andy Biersack’s broken nose.

The glam metal band was scheduled to play Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, at Wulfun Hall on Sunday as well as Briston, United Kingdom, at O2 Academy Britsol on Tuesday. The U.S. tour was slotted to kick off Nov. 10 in San Francisco at The Regency Ballroom and wrap up Nov. 21 in Houston at House Of Blues.

Biersack broke his nose last week in the middle of the band’s European tour, according to NME.com. After playing Saturday’s show at London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, Black Veil Brides released the following statement:

“Despite making it through the show, Andy was in excruciating pain and had difficulty singing and breathing. As a result, he needed to see a doctor after the show. He has been advised not to perform for the next three weeks to allow himself time to rest, heal and fully recover.”

An announcement on Black Veil Brides’ website says the band will be rescheduling all of the U.S. dates and “making up for lost VIP packages.” The group apologized for the inconvenience and promised “to make it up to you all at a later date.”

Black Veil Brides next upcoming shows are support dates with Avenged Sevenfold in late November.

Gym Class Heroes is yet another band sidelined by illness. After calling off shows last week, the group canceled its appearance at tonight’s gig at Cleveland’s House Of Blues. An announcement from House Of Blues said that the Dirty Heads and Wallpaper will still perform as scheduled. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

A statement on Gym Class Heroes’ website last week explained that vocalist Travie McCoy has been sick since the band’s United Kingdom shows earlier this month.

“Jumping right into our US tour hasn’t given him any time to recover. Trav’s been a trooper trying to push through, but finally hit a wall. He’s having a pretty rough time – we’ll spare you the details. Thankfully, he’s under the doctor’s watchful eye until he’s feeling better and ready to hit the road again.”

Gym Class Heroes is scheduled to perform Tuesday with Dirty Heads in Columbus, Ohio, at Newport Music Hall.
