Happy 30th Goldenvoice
The anniversary party – which is being called
Most concertgoers probably know Goldenvoice as the promoter of alternative music bash Coachella. But the festival grew from the work of Paul Tollett and the late Rick Van Santen, who began by booking punk rock shows in Southern California. They are not the original owners of the company, but they’re the ones who bought it from another owner and turned it into the megalith you know today. And a lot of bands owe them for early support.
A statement on Goldenvoice’s Facebook page explains the significance of GV30’s lineup.
“The artists and line-up for these special shows were chosen to reflect the bands that embraced and were instrumental in building Goldenvoice from day 1. Like us, they had just the right screws loose. Because of their support past and present, Goldenvoice was able to flourish and become a part of the Southern California music scene. These bands took a chance on us 30 years ago, and continue to be a big part of what we do today. We are excited for them to help us honor our first 30 years!”
GV30 begins Friday, Dec. 16 with performances from Social Distortion, X and The Adolescents. Saturday, Dec. 17 features Bad Religion, Youth Brigade and TSOL. The bash wraps up on Sunday, Dec. 18 with Descendents, The Vandals and The Dickies.
KROQ Street Team members will have first dibs on tickets through an exclusive presale on Friday. Tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday. Three-day passes are priced at $99 and single-day tickets will be available for $33.
