Roses Topping Fuji Bill

Right on the heels of news that the Stone Roses are reuniting, the group announced on its website that it will headline the 2012 Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.

Smash Corporation, which puts on Fuji, immediately confirmed that this was, in fact, true.

It is the first time in the festival’s history that a headliner has been announced during the calendar year preceding the actual year the festival happens.

In fact, Fuji usually doesn’t announce any acts until March 1, around the time tickets first go on sale.

An exception can obviously be made for the Stone Roses, whose lead singer, Ian Brown, is almost a perennial performer at Fuji.

Also, last year Fuji’s main summer festival rival in Japan, Summer Sonic, got the jump on Smash when it announced its headliners in January.
