Galactic’s Snowy Mardi Gras
The New Orleans-based quintet is traveling throughout the winter around the time of its latest release, Carnivale Electricos, which debuts, unsurprisingly, on Mardi Gras Day, Feb. 21. The collection of 13 tracks includes lots of NOLA accompaniment from folks like Cyril and Ivan Neville, Big Chief Juan Pardo and the KIPP Renaissance High School Band. Oh, and let’s not forget rappers Mannie Fresh and Mystikal.
The band’s latest release is chock-full of rock, hip-hop, R&B, samba, Zydeco, jazz and funk. But what else should be expected from Galactic’s party mentality?
U.S. dates kick off Feb. 17 at Mobile, Ala.’s Soul Kitchen, with Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 club soon following Feb. 23. The tour traverses back-and-forth across the contiguous states until April 20, where the band plays Minglewood Hall in Memphis. But if you jump ahead about 60 days, you’ll see them playing
