The trek is the first time the groups have toured together but Dengue Fever and Secret Chiefs 3 go way back.

Members of the two groups met and became friends while attending Humboldt State University. Dengue Fever guitarist Zac Holtzman and Secret Chiefs 3 drummer Danny Heifetz were band members in Bay Area band Dieselhed between 1994-2000. In 2003 Secret Chiefs 3 founder Trey Spruance released Dengue Fever’s first studio album in 2003 on his Web of Mimicry label.

The tour begins Jan. 24 at Denver’s Bluebird Theater and runs through a Feb. 10 gig in Vancouver, British Columbia, at The Rickshaw Theatre.

Additional dates include Santa Fe, N.M. (Jan. 25); Phoenix (Jan. 26); Los Angeles (Jan. 27); Santa Ana, Calif. (Jan. 28); San Diego (Jan. 29); San Luis Obispo, Calif. (Jan. 31); San Francisco (Feb. 2-3); Sacramento, Calif. (Feb. 4); Portland, Ore. (Feb. 7); Seattle (Feb. 8); and Bellingham, Wash. (Feb. 9).

Dengue Fever is touring in support of its fourth full-length album, Cannibal Courtship, which was released in April on Concord Music Group/Fantasy Records. The Cambodian pop/psychedelic rock group plans to launch its own record label by the end of the year to release its out-of-print back catalog along with bonus tracks and new merchandise.
