Lucero Has Work To Do

The Memphis-based alt country/punk rock band is touring in support of its latest studio effort, Women & Work. The album, which marks the band’s debut for ATO Records, is due out in March.

“This record is Lucero doing what we do best,” frontman Ben Nichols said. “It’s one part barrelhouse rock ’n’ roll and one part lonesome nights. The thing is, we are having more fun than ever playing both on stage and off and I think that shows on this album.”

After rocking Boston’s Paradise Rock Club Dec. 31, the 2012 tour begins Feb. 23 in Hot Springs, Ark., at Maxine’s Pub. Dates are booked through an April 28 gig in Atlanta at The Masquerade.

The trek includes stops in Fayetteville, Ark. (Feb. 24-25); Girdwood, Alaska (March 1-3); Phoenix (March 19); San Francisco (March 23); Seattle (March 25); Denver (March 30-31); Milwaukee (April 6); Chicago (April 7); Detroit (April 13); Toronto (April 14); New York (April 20); and Washington, D.C. (April 25).

Support acts include William Elliott Whitmore, J. Roddy Walston & The Business, Larry And His Flask, and Adam Faucett and The Tall Grass.

Lucero will team up with Built To Spill for a co-headline show March 12 in Houston at Fitzgerald’s.
