Ben Kweller & The Golden Laminate
To get into the shows for free, you need a golden laminate. And how do you get your hands on that? For a chance to win the music fan’s equivalent of Willy Wonka’s golden ticket, fans must pre-order the singer-songwriter’s fifth studio album, Go Fly A Kite. The contest runs through Feb. 6 and the album is released the next day.
The grand prize winner will earn lifetime admission to Kweller concerts where he is the sole or co-headliner. The laminate won’t work at festivals and private events. Four runners-up (as well as the grand prize winner) will win merch packs, which include 1 limited edition 7” vinyl single, a Ben Kweller tote bag and a Ben Kweller sticker. Kweller will autograph the first 1,000 physical orders.
Go Fly A Kite is the first album to be released on Kweller’s newly formed independent imprint, the Noise Company.
“It’s the real deal, not just an artist self-releasing his music,” he said in a statement. “We have a real staff, real funding, real distribution, and I look forward to eventually helping other artists achieve their goals, too.”
The U.S. dates begin March 21 in Philadelphia at Union, Transfer. Gigs are booked through an April 30 show at Salt Lake City’s In The Venue.
The tour includes Boston (March 23); New York (March 24); Madison, Wis. (March 27); St. Louis (March 30); Chicago (March 31); Nashville (April 1); Houston (April 19); Los Angeles (April 25); San Francisco (April 26); Portland, Ore. (April 27); and Seattle (April 28).
Before the U.S. tour Kweller has a few Australian shows to do March 2-5.
