Jay-Z’s Insurance Issues

Jay-Z has been ordered by a New York court to pay an $18,000 fine over insurance violations with regards to his employees.

According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the Workers Compensation Board of New York sued the rapper (real name Shawn Carter) after he failed to pay workers comp insurance for his staff for several months in 2009.

The suit said the problem was resolved soon after but claimed Carter never settled up the outstanding $18,000 in insurance premiums for the period of the lapse.

A source reportedly close to the matter told TMZ Carter never lapsed on payment, instead blaming the issue on a clerical error.
