Singer Kaye Stevens Dies

Kaye Stevens, 79, known for her performances with the Rat Pack and on Johnny Carson’s “The Tonight Show,” died Dec. 30 in a Florida hospital following a battle with breast cancer.

Stevens got her start in music as a teenage drummer and singer in Cleveland before she married bandleader Tommy Amato and toured the eastern U.S.

She was eventually discovered by Ed McMahon, performed for U.S. soldiers in Vietnam on Bob Hope’s USO tour, and, later in life, staged Christian benefit concerts to build a church in her hometown.
