Philharmonic Show-Stopper

Patrons enjoying a performance by the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall Jan. 12 witnessed a show-stopping moment.

Music Director Alan Gilbert stopped the orchestra in its tracks when a cell phone in the first row began ringing. He didn’t resume the performance until the offending device was silenced.

Patrons are reminded to turn off their phones at the start of every performance. Ushers usually enforce the venue’s policy when needed.
