The act’s fans advised the John Butler Trio that the music on the ad was similar to its 2003 hit song “Zebra.” The ad’s 21-year-old director Remy Neymarc and the music composer Jonah Geil-Neufeld were discovered by Dannon through crowd sourcing Pop Tent.

Dannon released a statement when the furor broke online: “A question about the music in our Super Bowl commercial has been brought to our attention. We are working to fully understand and address the situation. We apologize for any concerns this has caused John Butler Trio’s band members and fans.”
