Switchfoot Spring U.S. Headline Tour
In addition to rocking out Down Under, the alternative rock band will be capturing footage for Switchfoot’s upcoming surf film, “Fading West,” which will feature surfing locations the Grammy award-winning group has played over the course of its latest world tour.
The Australian tour begins Feb. 24 in Brisbane at The Tivoli. Switchfoot will play Soundwave Festival in Brisbane (Feb. 25), Sydney (Feb. 26), Melbourne (March 2), Adelaide (March 3) and Perth (March 5). Last date of the trip is March 8 in Auckland, New Zealand, at The Studio.
Fans in Hawaii will say aloha to Switchfoot March 22 at Kahului’s Castle Theater, followed by a March 24 gig at Kahuku’s Turtle Bay Hilton.
The U.S. headline tour includes stops in Madison, Wis. (April 18); Columbia, Mo. (April 26); Des Moines, Iowa (April 27); Birmingham, Ala. (May 3); Athens, Ga. (May 8); York, Pa. (May 10); Kings Island, Ohio (June 28); and Hot Springs, Ark. (July 14).
A round of Canadian dates is booked May 22-27 beginning in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at Garrick Centre.
The 2012 schedule also features several festival appearances including KDGE 102.1 EdgeFest in Frisco, Texas (April 22); The Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores, Ala. (May 18); Ichthus Festival in Wilmore, Ky. (June 20) and SoulFest in Gilford, N.H. (Aug. 2). The band’s eighth annual Bro-Am is set for June 16 in Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, Calif. Switchfoot is touring in support of its eighth studio album, Vice Verses. The group, along with producer Neal Avron, will discuss the making of the album during “An Evening With Switchfoot at La Jolla Playhouse” in San Diego. Presented by NBC SounDiego and Living Social, the event will feature a Q&A and meet-and-greet. Tickets will be available Feb. 22 exclusively through LivingSocial.com.
On Record Store Day, April 21, the band will release a limited edition EP, titled Re-Verses, featuring remixes of Vice Verses tunes by Paper Route, Owl City’s Adam Young, Photek and Darren King. A digital version of the EP will be released May 1 and include a remix of the band’s new single, “Afterlife,” by the winner of the ongoing Switchfoot Remix Contest.
