Odds & Ends: Cher, Bruce Springsteen and Robin Gibb

Although nothing regarding exact dates, cities and venues has been released, during the past few days Cher has been using Twitter to tease her fans about her upcoming tour, saying the outing will begin in Kansas and that the entire “look” of the show will change for every song.

“OH MY GOD!!!!,” Cher tweeted Feb. 23 in an all-cap and exclamation point frenzy. “I JUST SAW THE SETS 4 THE SHOW!!! I CANT SHOW U CAUSE YOUD NEVER 4GIVE ME! THERES SO MUCH MAGIC I AM BREATHLESS.”

Cher followed up with an upper/lower case mix describing the show plus where and when the tour will begin.

“no s—t im shaking! The whole set/Look changes 4 every song! I mean COMPLETING CHANGES! Tour starts in sept! First dates Kansas.”

Cher also revealed that she doesn’t “believe in expensive tickets” and that her tour will play Brazil, but didn’t mention when that might happen.

Springsteen at SXSW

In December SXSW organizers announced that Bruce Springsteen will deliver a keynote speech March 15. Now the annual music festival says Springsteen along with his E Street cohorts will perform an intimate performance after The Boss gives his address.

But it’s going to take some luck to gain entrance to this performance. SXSW is holding a lottery for the gig, opening the drawing to platinum badge holders, music badge holders, artist wristband holders and “SXSW music wristband holders who have already obtained their wristbands online.” For more information, click here.

Springsteen’s first public date is a special performance at New York City’s Apollo Theater March 9. The arena dates begin March 18 in Atlanta at Philips.

Gibb Back Hospitalized

Bee Gee Robin Gibb is back in the hospital, but published reports indicate it’s a routine visit.

Gibb was admitted into the London Clinic last week, British newspaper Daily Mail reported Saturday, saying the 62-year-old singer suffers from colon and liver cancer.

However, earlier this month Gibb told the BBC that reports about his cancer were based on speculation.

“I mean the fact is, I’ve never spoken to anybody about my condition or the condition that I was in and a lot of them go over the top to the point where they’re telling me things that I didn’t even know about myself,” Gibb said.

Gibb’s only public appearance in recent months was two weeks ago when he joined military music trio The Soldiers at the “Coming Home” concert at the London Palladium. Gibb sang two Bee Gee’s tunes at the charity event – “How Deep Is Your Love” and “Gotta Get A Message To You.”
