One Direction, Radiohead Sell Out In Minutes

More than 10,000 tickets for One Direction’s first visit to New Zealand in April sold out within 10 minutes.

According to promoter Nine Live, fans were buying 1,000 tickets per minute for April 21 shows at Auckland’s Trust Stadium Arena and April 22 Wellington’s St. James Theatre.

A second show in Auckland for the afternoon of April 21, added after initial consumer response, also sold out. The band’s record label Sony Music said the band could return for a lengthier visit later this year.

Radiohead’s first show in NZ since 1998, at the 12,000-capacity Vector Arena in Auckland, sold out in 19 minutes.

Disappointed fans have taken to the Facebook pages of Ticketmaster and promoter Chugg Entertainment to demand a second show. But Chugg had warned, before tickets were released, there would only be one show, on Nov. 6.
