Will Adele Top Dire Straits?

Adele’s 21 album could in three weeks become the longest-running chart-topping album in Australian history.

In the week beginning March 12, the album marked its 31st week atop the official Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) chart. It displaced The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’s stay of 30 weeks.

Currently, the longest resident at No. 1 downunder is Dire Straits’ 1985 album Brothers In Arms, with 34 weeks.
