Texas Promoter Arrested

The promoter for the second annual Music Unity Freedom Festival at Porretto Beach near Galveston, Texas, was arrested March 16 for violating the city’s noise ordinance.

Galveston Police Capt. Byron Frankland told the Daily News that he’d warned Marc Borde of Borde Room Entertainment prior to the March 16-18 event that he needed permits to host an event featuring amplified music and for any bands to play.

“The guy didn’t pull any of the permits for anything,” Frankland told the paper. “It wasn’t until late in the game that he tried to get the permits, but it was too late.”

The event was to feature 30 bands and DJs of various genres on two stages, beach camping and vendors offering food, beverage and other merchandise. Admission was to be $5.

Artists confirmed for the event included Nadis Warriors, HR of Badbrains with members of Fishbone, Mama Tried, Sundrunk and others.
