311 & Slightly Stoopid Unite
The 2012 excursion is the 10th consecutive summer 311 has headlined or co-headlined amphitheaters with the Unity Tour. Previous Unity Tours have paired the alternative rock band with Snoop Dogg, The Offspring, Sublime With Rome, Matisyahu, The Wailers and The Roots.
“Summer Unity in full effect!” said 311 vocalist/guitarist Nick Hexum. “We’re really excited that Slightly Stoopid is on the 2012 Unity Tour. 311 & Slightly Stoopid seems like a perfect outdoor summer party. Can’t wait to see you all at the shows!”
Slightly Stoopid vocalist/guitarist Miles Doughty sent out his own quote expressing just how thrilled he was about the upcoming road trip.
“We’re excited to be on Unity Tour with 311. Going coast to coast, it should be a summer of madness … Butawatchout!”
The first show of the tour is July 8 in Sioux Falls, S.D., at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Dates are booked through a Sept. 5 gig in Redmond, Wash., at the Marymoore Amphitheatre.
Stops on the route include Dallas (July 12); Tampa, Fla. (July 20); Charlotte, N.C. (July 22); Philadelphia (July 27); Gilford, N.H. (July 29); Mansfield, Mass. (Aug. 4); Cincinnati (Aug. 9); Clarkston, Mich. (Aug. 15); Santa Barbara, Calif. (Aug. 29) and Las Vegas (Sept. 1)
SOJA and The Aggrolites support on select dates.
311 is touring in support of the band’s 2011 album, Universal Pulse. The band will be sure to play plenty of their hits including “Down,” “All Mixed Up,” “Amber,” “Come Original” and “Beautiful Disaster.”
Slightly Stoopid has a new two-CD/DVD package coming out March 30. Live at Robert’s TRI Studios was recorded at Bob Weir’s studio and features collaborations with Weir, Ivan and Ian Neville, The Greyboy Allstars’ Karl Denson and host Tommy Chong.
Tickets for select shows go on sale starting March 27.
