With four members from the United Kingdom and one from Ireland, One Direction’s popularity has crossed the pond to the U.S. where the group’s late spring / early summer headlining tour quickly sold out. Meanwhile, the band has U.K. dates scheduled clear through April 2013.

Selling all those tickets sure is impressive. Especially when you consider that One Direction wasn’t a gleam in anybody’s eye until the lads auditioned as solo artists for Britain’s “X Factor” in 2010. But seeing was evidently believing for Simon Cowell who suggested the boys form a group.

Now the band has a winter gig scheduled for the U.S. – Dec. 3 at Madison Square Garden.

“We’re so happy to be playing Madison Square Garden,” One Direction’s Niall Horan said. “To be headlining our own show in a venue that has played host to countless legendary acts that we have grown up listening to and adore is obviously a dream come true for all of us. We can’t wait to play for our fans on Dec. 3.”

The ticketing frenzy begins April 6. Check out OneDirectionMusic.com for more information.
