Plies Decision Reversed

A judge has overturned a verdict against rapper Plies, saying he is not liable for a shooting that took place at his concert in 2006.

Plies was arrested after the shooting in Gainesville, Fla., and charged with carrying a concealed weapon. He pleaded no contest and adjudication was withheld, meaning he has no conviction on his record, according to the Gainesville Sun.

Five plaintiffs were originally awarded more than $80,000 for medical bills. His attorney said Plies was taking pictures with fans when the shots ran out.

“There was no evidence that he even knew who fired the shots when the shooting occurred,” the attorney told the Sun.

Plies’ brother Ronell Lawrence Levatte and another man were convicted in the shootings. Levatte spent 18 months in prison.
