River’s Edge Snags Dave Matthews Band
Presented by Live Nation, the River’s Edge Music Festival will take place in Saint Paul on Harriet Island June 23-24. Along with DMB the festival has Tool making its sole U.S. appearance this year. With more than 30 acts and four stages, the lineup also includes The Flaming Lips, Brand New, Coheed & Cambria, Scissor Sisters, Kinky, Mexican Institute Of Sound and more.
Although organizers are focused on getting the first River’s Edge off and running, they’re also talking about their 2013 plans that include a second weekend dedicated to country music, a third day of rock and an electronic music “offshoot,” according to the Star Tribune.
“This is the year we’ll have our training wheels on, and, hopefully, it will lead to many smooth years ahead,” Live Nation co-president Mark Campana told the newspaper, which reported the promotion company has signed a five-year minimum contract with the city.
Live Nation is also pumping some serious cash into the festival, a reported $4 million for the first year.
