A Bit Of Chic At Ibiza Summit

Legendary producer and former member of Chic Nile Rodgers will be the subject for one of the keynote artist interviews at this year’s International Music Summit in Ibiza May 23-25.

The annual gathering at the Ibiza Gran Hotel has lined up an impressive list of speakers including Cream nightclub founder James Barton, internationally known Spanish promoter Pino Sagliocco, Metropolis Music promoter and former Amy Winehouse manager Raye Cosbert, Chase & Status manager Jho Oakley, and William Morris Endeavour agent Obi Asika.

The artists that will be popping up on various panels include Grammy nominee Diplo, Luciano, Carl Cox, Above and Beyond, Professor Green, Paul Oakenfold, and Seth Troxler.

The three-day summit addresses issues affecting electronic dance music with the goal of consolidating it as a serious business.

This year’s agenda includes discussions on “festival billing wars,” technology addresses from Twitter, YouTube, Spotify, and Foursquare, plus market focuses in Australia and India.

The IMS, now its fifth year, was started by DJ Pete Tong, Ben Turner of Graphite Media, Danny Whittle and Mark Netto from Pacha, and Simeon Friend from The Shop, Ibiza.

Apart from the Ibiza conference, organisers have begun releasing regular reports regarding the size of the global electronic dance music business, measuring its popularity in various markets.
