Riverfront Concerts Takes A Break
The Riverfront Concerts series at Columbia Park in Kennewick, Wash., won’t take place this summer following the death of promoter Ken Phebus of a heart attack in April.
Riverfront’s Marc Solferino told the Tri-City Herald that he and partner Monty Mills are taking a break to regroup and plan for next year.
“Right now, we’re still in shock over Ken’s sudden death,” Solferino said May 4. “I really can’t believe it. I know Ken would want us to continue on, and we will eventually. We have a ton of people asking what’s going on this year for the concerts.”
Phebus, who was 64, is credited with bringing top acts including Robert Cray, Chris Isaak, Randy Travis, Soundgarden and Bob Dylan to the area since the series launched three years ago.
“Ken was our lifeline to bringing the Tri-Cities great performers,” Solferino told the paper. “He was tenacious and loved music.”
