LMFAO Complaint Upheld

A complaint against New Zealand TV channel C4 for screening a racy LMFAO video at 7 p.m. last September was upheld by the Broadcasting Standards Authority.

The BSA agreed that the video for “Shots,” which showed a huge alcohol party – as well as lyrical references to oral sex and women becoming sexually aroused when drinking heavily – should not have been broadcast at a time when young children would be watching.

In its findings, the BSA noted that “The absence of standards and controls in the internet sector does not mean that there should be an abandonment of decent standards in the area of traditional broadcasting.”

The BSA rejected the complainant’s claim that the video denigrated women.
