Electric Daisy Gets Windy

The second night of the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway was compromised because of high winds, and fans near the stage were asked to move to the bleachers.

Fans were asked at 1 a.m. June 10 to exit the field and go into the stands for safety reasons. Customers arriving at the gates at that time were turned away by police.

Promoter Insomniac, concerned about the temporary structures surrounding the field, determined at 2:45 a.m. to keep the fans in the bleachers until 5:30 a.m., about the time Avicii and Tiësto were to go on stage.

About 90,000 fans were inside the gates when the decisions were made.

“Insomniac shares our fans’ disappointment that weather conditions changed the second night of the Electric Daisy Carnival experience,” Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella said. “Our top priority has always been fan safety and we expect that Mother Nature will be more cooperative tomorrow as we prepare for an amazing Day 3.”
