Lightning Strikes Sweden’s Peace & Love

Lightning may not have struck the exact same place twice at the Peace & Love Music Festival near Borlange, Sweden, but it did manage to strike 17 festivalgoers.

That’s the number of people who were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being struck by lightning at the music festival, reports Sweden’s English-language newspaper The Local.

Evidently none of the victims lost consciousness. The lightning strike occurred at about 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Sweden time.

Festival press officer Ronny Matsson told news agency TT that campers as well as festival staff members had experienced milder injuries and “were holding metal objects when lightning struck.”

Scheduled through June 30, the Peace & Love Music Festival features performances by Rihanna, Dropkick Murphys, Billy Idol, Mumford & Sons, Regina Spektor, and My Morning Jacket. Lightning permitting, of course.
