Seth Godin’s Kick-Tip

Bands who aren’t finding funding success on Kickstarter could take note from a recent experiment by marketing iconoclast Seth Godin.

The author recently tested out the waters of the crowd funding website to help publish his upcoming book, “The Icarus Deception,” which looks at the mythology of success and failure and how our economy rewards people who are willing to stand up and stand out.

Godin certainly stood out on Kickstarter, where he raised more than $237,000 at press time, eclipsing his pledge goal of $40,000.

Other works by the bestselling author and entrepreneur, who pioneered the idea of permission marketing, include “Tribes,” “The Dip” and “Purple Cow: Transform Your Business By Being Remarkable.”
