Wonder Extortion Scheme To Trial

The couple arrested in May for allegedly trying to finagle money from Stevie Wonder will stand trial on an extortion charge.

Superior Court Judge Ray Jurado ruled July 12 the prosecution has enough evidence to go to trial against Alpha Lorenzo Walker, who is Wonder’s cousin, and his girlfriend, Tamara Eileen Diaz.

The duo was arrested May 2 during a sting operation for threatening to sell video footage allegedly damaging to Wonder’s career unless the performer paid them $500,000.

Walker and Diaz have pleaded not guilty.

The pair is scheduled to return to court July 26.
