Milk Carton Kids Ready To Headline
Described as “classical folk” and “back porch Americana,” Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan make it seem easy with a two-guitar approach and their harmonizing ways. Credit those 150-plus shows since forming in February 2011 for honing the boys’ live act featuring an easy-going and natural dynamic that’s evident in The Milk Carton Kids’ NPR Tiny Desk Concert released this week.
Also impressive are the accolades the group has received during the past 18 months, such as receiving “best of festival” picks from The New York Times, NPR and Time Magazine after appearing at SXSW this year.
They call it a fall headlining tour, but the adventure begins during the last days of summer when they play Denver’s Swallow Hill Music Association Aug. 30. With shows in Canada and the U.S., other stops include Cleveland (Sept. 18); Toronto, Ontario (Sept. 20); Boston (Sept. 24); New York City (Sept. 27); Los Angeles (Oct. 4); Seattle (Oct. 9), Vancouver, British Columbia (Oct. 11); and Nashville (Oct. 26). Last stop on the tour is Vienna, Va., at Jammin’ Java Nov. 5.
