Supporters Of U.S. Metal Band Singer Plan Vigil

A week after holding a vigil in Richmond, another vigil for Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Vigil organizer Tommy Streat tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that friends hope they’ll be welcoming Blythe home.

“But if not, we’ll be sending the message that will support him,” said Streat, who also has created and maintained an active Facebook presence on the situation.

Blythe was arrested in Prague on June 27. He’s accused of injuring a fan during a concert in May 2010.

At some point while apparently rushing onto the stage and being thrown off three times, the 19-year-old fan hit his head and later slipped into a coma. The fan later died.

U.S. Embassy officials were able to free the other members of the Richmond-based band, all of whom were immediately directed to leave the country. They have declined to comment.

Czech authorities are continuing to hold Blythe in jail. The newspaper says Blythe is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
