Vegas Wheels In Motion
Caesars Entertainment has scored a permit to build the world’s tallest observation wheel smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip.
The 550-foot High Roller will serve as the cornerstone of Caesar’s Linq project, a $550 million entertainment, retail and dining development slated to open next year near the Harrah’s Las Vegas, Imperial Palace and Flamingo Las Vegas hotels.
The High Roller will top the 541-foot Singapore Flyer and the 443-foot London Eye, which both broke height records when they opened. The wheel will feature 28 air-conditioned cabins capable of holding 40 people each.
Elsewhere in Las Vegas another, shorter, observation wheel – the 500-foot SkyVue – is already under construction. The $100-million SkyVue development will be part of a convention space located across the strip from the Mandalay Bay resort and is also scheduled to open next year.
